RENO, NV - July is Artown month in northern Nevada, with activities designed to keep art lovers of all types and ages busy during the hot summer month.

Highlights this year include a funk-fusion twist on Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon," plus musicians including Dave Koz, Rickie Lee Jones, and Pete Escovedo with Sheila E. There will be art workshops, festivals, and movies at Wingfield Park. Many of the events are free and open to the family.

Artown started in 1996 with 30,000 people attending, according to the Artown website. By 2008, roughly 350,000 people took part.

This year's poster contest winner is Annie Hall, whose work can be seen at the Liberty Gallery at 100 West Liberty Street.
