SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. -- An early morning crash in South Lake Tahoe killed one person and sent two others to the hospital.

A South Lake Tahoe Police official says the accident happened at about 1:35am on Pioneer Trail at Ski Run Blvd. Investigators say a Honda Accord broadsided a GMC Yukon. Three people were taken to the hospital, including the Accord driver, 22-year-old Roberto Olazaba, and passenger, William Olazaba, and the Yukon driver, 26-year-old Noe Corea.

William Olazaba died in the hospital. Roberto Olazaba was admitted for observation. Corea was treated and released.

During the crash, one of the vehicles hit a power converter box, knocking out power to the Ski Run neighborhood. Liberty Power Company was called out and restored power.

South Lake Tahoe police report this is the third traffic fatality in the last four months in the city.

Investigators ask anyone who saw the crash or has more information about the crash to call Officer John Speath at (530) 542-6100.
