RENO, NV - You don't have to wait that long for construction to end at the airport. Officials gave us a preview of what travelers can expect this spring.
It's hard to believe all of the construction going on at the airport will be finished in a few months. But when it is, getting through security should be easier than ever.
"The frequent flyers right off the bat are going to notice that there's a whole new way for security screening here at the airport," says Heidi Jared, a spokesperson for the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
Right now, there are two security checkpoints. But at the end of March, there will be just one.
"And the Transportation Security Administration will have all new state-of-the-art equipment in that area. There will be more lanes for screening and it will be a quick in and out for customers," says Jared.
In April, the airport plans to open four shops that include Brighton Collectibles, No Boundaries, Fly Smart, and InMotion. The $27 million improvement project also includes an upscale restaurant called Timber Ridge. For those who crave a more casual dining atmosphere, Wild Garlic Pizza will open as well as a McDonald's.
