RENO, Nev. - Triple-A Baseball announced today that Reno's Mike Jacobs has been named as a participant in the 2014 All-Star Home Run Derby. The Home Run Derby will take place Monday, July 14, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C. at 3:30 p.m. PST.
Jacobs is one of three players representing the Pacific Coast League against three from the International League. He joins sluggers Allan Dykstra from Las Vegas and Omaha's Francisco Pena to round out the PCL side. The International League will be represented by Jesus Aguilar of Columbus, Mike Hessman of Toledo and Buffalo's Dan Johnson.
The Aces first baseman has clubbed 12 home runs this season and has 263 throughout his career, including 100 homers at the Major League level. Jacobs smashed a career-high 36 home runs with the Mets organization in 2005 and hit 32 with the Florida Marlins in 2008. Jacobs will try to make it back-to-back Champions for the Aces in the Home Run Derby, following Matt Davidson who won the 2013 Triple-A Home Run Derby at Aces Ballpark.
