RENO, Nev. - The holiday season is a time of giving, but one local man has come up with a creative way to raise money for those in need.
Chance Geving has always loved Christmas.
"It's the time of year where everyone is in a better spirit," he said.
To help spread the holiday cheer, he has co-written an original Christmas song with his mom called 'Santa Gonna Be Happy'.
The new song shows a different side to Santa's little helpers. They go around all year spying on the little boys and girls to find out who's been naughty and who's been good.
But according to the song, this year no names have ended up on the naughty list, and that makes Santa very happy.
But more important than a cute song, is what Geving is doing with it. He is selling the song on iTunes, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Northern Nevada Food Bank.
"We love creative ways to raise food and money for the Food Bank," Jocelyn Lantrip, marketing director for the Food Bank said. "It doesn't matter that the song is only 99 cents. Every dollar we get will help buy 4 meals for families."
