A Single-Vehicle Crash Near Fernley Leaves One Dead

RENO, Nev. -- Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) troopers are investigating a fatal crash 29 miles east of Fernley.

The accident happened on Interstate 80 near Mile Marker 75 just after 8:30am. An NHP dispatcher confirms it was a single-vehicle accident and the car came to rest off the roadway.

An NHP press release indicates a 2003 Nissan Murano was headed westbound on I-80 when it left the roadway, hit the median and flipped a number of times.

The driver, a man from California, was killed. No one else was in the car.

No lanes were blocked or closed due to the accident. The Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) is still investigating the crash. If you have any information pertaining to the investigation, please call Trooper Scott Morron at (775) 689-4623.
