A Fernley woman was killed in an accident in a U.S. 50 Alternate construction zone near her hometown, authorities said.
The victim, Raquel Lopez, 47, was a passenger in a pickup driven by her husband, Sergio Lopez, 44, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
Their pickup was struck head-on Tuesday evening near Hazen by an
oncoming car driven by Henry Tisor, 44, of Fernley, that had drifted over the center line, troopers said.
The Lopez pickup spun out of control and was then struck by a van from behind, causing the fatal injuries to Raquel Lopez.
Tisor escaped injury, but Sergio Lopez and van driver Adriana Pinuelas, 22, of Fallon, were taken to a Reno hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol is not suspected in the accident, and all involved were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
The 6:25 p.m. accident is under investigation.
