The search for missing aviator Steve Fossett continues around Minden and his disappearance has generated loads Internet tips and drawn volunteer pilots.
The trouble is it's not clear whether the extra help is helping or hurting the rescue effort.
Civil Air Patrol pilots lifted of early this morning to begin the search's ninth day, with fresh fliers rotating in from around the region.
While the private effort has worked side by side with the government during the eight-day hunt, officials said they are becoming worried that the latest call for volunteers could bring in people who are unfamiliar with the vast and often dangerous landscape.
A lack of oversight sometimes leads to the official search effort covering ground already searched by the private effort.
