A body found in Elko County has been positively identified as that of a missing University of Nevada, Reno professor, and a family friend has been targeted as the suspect in her death.

That's the word today from Sparks Police Commander Steve Asher.

He says an investigation and autopsy revealed 64-year-old Judy Calder, an associate professor in U-N-R's Department of Human Development and Family Studies, was stabbed to death August 18th at
Imaging Technologies in Reno.

Investigators think her body then was driven to Elko County, where it was found Tuesday along old Highway 93, about 375 milesnortheast of Reno.

50-year-old suspect Ricky Barge was identified as one of the owners of the Reno business.

Asher says Calder and her family were friends and business associates of Barge, but police were unsure of the exact nature of the relationship.

Asher says investigators are trying to determine the true identity of Barge, whose name was an apparent alias.

Asher declined to comment on a possible motive for the killing.

He also says authorities are unsure whether the suspect is still in the Reno area.
