Dad Gets Prison In Elko Boy's Murder

The father of an Elko boy killed by his stepmother has been sentenced to 12 to 30 years in prison for not stopping the abuse inflicted on the boy and his sister.

Thirty-nine year old Charles "Tony" Hunt pleaded guilty in June to two counts of child abuse or neglect causing substantial bodily harm.

Six-year-old Kyle Hunt died six days before Christmas 2005 at the Hunts' former home in Spring Creek.

Pathologists said he died of a beating and salt poisoning.

His stepmother, Chrystal Denette Hunt, was convicted by a jury of murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole, plus 20 years, for the killing and abusing 10-year Amanda Hunt.

At his sentencing this week, Charles Hunt blamed the abuse on the couple's use of methamphetamine.
