Catching Child Predators On The Web
Reno Child porn is easily accessible on the internet, but even so, it’s still illegal. The internet can help authorities find child porn viewers. On the other hand some users know how to stay anonymous. Computer experts, even those who work in repair shops, can help law enforcement track child porn activity.

The Computer Guy is use to fixing viruses and power surges on computers, but sometimes they stumble on to something more.
“Our standard policy is if anyone stumbles across any kind of child porn or anything like that, of that nature, we immediately stop what they are doing, and they call me,” says Tony Wildey the owner of The Computer Guy.
That's exactly what happened a couple of months ago, Wildey says, when one of his technicians discovered child porn in a client's computer file. Wildey says he called police who took the computer.
On Monday he says he found out 18-year old Daniel Saldana Jacinto, his former customer, was facing 10 counts of child porn.
“We've found throughout the area and throughout the United States, computer repair places are usually pretty pro-active in contacting law enforcement while they are trying to protect children. Sometimes can wreak havoc with the computer depending upon what else you are doing on the internet and they end up at a computer repair place of if they try to do it themselves,” says Detective Dennis Carry with Washoe County’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Detective Carry says its not just computer repair shops that can uncover child porn. A-O-L scans images that are passed along and those that are child porn are flagged and sent to a national data base where local authorities are ultimately contacted.
That's what happened in the Brian Fenn case earlier this year where Fenn pleaded guilty to four counts of trading child porn on line. A-O-L says tens-of-thousands of images were traded according to their records. While Wildey can't claim to have uncovered that many images, in his 16-years of business, he's had his share.
“Once case is still ongoing. The other one of course has been in the news, and the other one was not convicted as far as I know,” says Wildey.
Wildey says he's just doing his civic duty, he says if he saw someone doing something wrong on the street, he's try to stop it there as well.
Washoe County Sheriff’s Detectives say another child porn suspect is in custody tonight.
James Patrick Burns faces three counts of possession of child porn and one count of distribution of child porn. Investigators say they were able to catch Burns because of his activity on the internet.

well i sure the hell will not look at child porn. I belive it is completely wrong, but i sure the hell would sue the piss out the repair shop if they falsely accused me of doing that and turned me into the fuzz. Come on, do the pics have the ages on them. in todays times, it can be pretty damn hard to tell the differce between a 15yr old and a 18yr old(Who would be completely legal to star in a porn film if the 18yr old wanted).
Is it that these guys are just now comming out of the wood work ?has it always been like this? ,(people with fantasies of children) .. it just seems to me that in the last 5 years or so .more and more nuts balls are showing up on the radar. i do not remember people doing this kind of stuff when i was a kid or even a teen . are there just more mentally unstable people in the world . it disgusts me. people like this should just be put out of OUR misery.. there is NO place for them in society. i dont want to pay for this punk while he gets "treatment" with my money do you ? god i hope he doesnt have kids !!
It's important for people who read this article to understand something about computer repair technicians. Most of us will NOT root around on your computer to find personal information or illegal content. This is a matter of trust that we cannot break if we expect to stay in business. It is only when our services are required to deal with personal files that we run across this type of content. As far as I know all computer repair centers have a clause in their service agreements that informs the customers that should thier computer contain illegal content, the service centers will contact law enforcement.
