Four firefighters who battled Carson City's Waterfall Fire-- were honored today-- for their actions to save lives and homes.
NDF captain Tim Leighton,(lee-ton) firefighters Gregg Tibbetts, Eric Reymus and Lyon County firefighter Kevin Kleinworth all received Certificates of Recognition from Governor Kenny Guinn today.
Kleinworth was awarded for his selfless actions during the first days of the fire-- when the flames actually burned over crews and media personnel.
Kleinworth pulled his Lyon County truck over-- to let a media vehicle not only escape the fire but escape with their lives.
His engine was destroyed.
And the NDF crew was awarded for their work to protect fellow firefighters.
The governor told attendees,"the first three individuals certainly pulled their trucks into harms way and were shooting water over firefighters so they could withstand the heat and keep their hoses on the homes they were protecting."
Guinn says if northern Nevada sees another wildfire like the Waterfall Fire this summer, there's no doubt area firefighters will be ready to go again.
