Presidential hopeful cheers on Reno-Tahoe Olympics coalition

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney
praised organizers of an effort to bring the 20-18 Winter Olympics
to the Reno-Tahoe area today, calling his Olympics experience one
of the most rewarding of his life.
Romney managed the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City,
lifting the scandal-ridden event from near collapse to a 100 (m)
million dollar success.
He met with the Reno-Tahoe Winter Games Coalition at the Mount
Rose Ski area to offer suggestions and encouragement.
He carefully avoided anything that might sound like an
endorsement since other areas where he will be campaigning might
also seek the winter games.
But he promised that if northern Nevada gets the nod from the
International Olympics Committee -- and he gets the presidency --
he will do everything he can to being the games to the United
