Fatal Accident in Carson City

An 84-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision this morning in Carson City. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Wretha Wright of Carson City was pronounced dead at the scene. It happened around 9 am Sunday on Fairview Drive near Fifth Street.

Wright in the front passenger seat of a car that was struck head-on by an oncoming car. That vehicle was driven by 47-year-old Jerry Horine of Carson City. Troopers say he lost control of the car, crossed the center line, and drove into the path of an oncoming car.

That car was driven by 62-year-old Mary Blueberg of Carson City. Both drivers were flown to a Reno hospital, where Blueberg was listed in critical but stable condition. Horine was in stable condition.

The accident is under investigation and alcohol is believed to be a factor.
