Authorities say a 20-acre wildfire that destroyed five homes on Lake Tahoe's west shore is now contained.
Placer County officials say firefighters fully surrounded the blaze late last night.
Sheriff's deputies say a house fire yesterday afternoon sparked the wind-whipped blaze near the resort community of Sunnyside just south of Tahoe City.
No injuries were reported.
A June wildfire about 20 miles to the south destroyed 254 homes.
Authorities say the blaze slowed last night, allowing most of the evacuated residents and tourists to return.
They say a few residents were still being kept from their homes today as fire crews mopped up hot spots and repaired downed power lines.
The Washoe Way house were the fire started was fully engulfed when crews arrived shortly after 1:30 p-m. Flames were being fanned
by wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour.
