An investigation continued Sunday into the suspicious death of a 44-year-old man found face down in a water-filled drainage ditch in Carson City.
Philip Proell's body was found Saturday morning in the ditch at the Carson City freeway construction site on Russel Way.
Sheriff's Sgt. Bob White said the body was found about two blocks from a restaurant where he was accused of failing to pay a $10 check the night before.
White said there were no signs of trauma.
"We are investigating his activities over the previous 24-hour period to find out what he was doing and what his condition was," Sheriff Kenny Furlong said.
"We do have an arrest history on him and the charges are all alcohol related, so it appears he had a very serious drinking problem," he added.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
