A fire destroyed a mobile home north of Reno and seriously injured two children, authorities said.
Reno Fire Battalion Chief Butch Van Leuven said the Sun Valley-area home was engulfed in flames Saturday morning when firefighters rushed into a bedroom and rescued a 7-year-old boy and his 3-year-old sister.
"They (firefighters) had their hands full and did a great job," he said. "They got the children out of there in the nick of time."
The two initially were listed in critical condition at Washoe Medical Center but their condition was upgraded to serious later in the day, Van Leuven said.
Their mother was able to escape the burning home just off Clear Acre Lane on her own, but suffered at least second-degree burns on her shoulder and hands.
Plans called for her to be taken to a hospital burn center in either Las Vegas or California, Van Leuven said.
The 9 a.m. fire originated in the living room but its cause is under investigation.
