National Night Out is an event designed to promote crime and drug prevention nationwide. In 2006, it was marked in more than 11,000 communities nationwide. Tuesday the event was held in Carson City.

A crowd gathered in Mills Park to meet and talk with law enforcement officers. An official says there were 40 exhibits, including displays from the SWAT Team, Carson City Sheriff's Office and Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad.

Attendees could see a bomb-handling robot, a drug-sniffing dog and a classic police car.
