3 Rancho San Rafael Park Attractions May Get Cut

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Three attractions at Reno's Rancho San Rafael Regional Park could be the latest victims of budget cuts.

The Washoe County Commission on Monday will consider a proposed budget that includes cutting the log flume ride, exploratory mine building and pony rides at Great Basin Adventure

Al Rogers, assistant director of the county's regional parks department, says some of the attractions are more than 20 years old and the county doesn't have the money to make necessary repairs. He says more than 5,000 people visit the Great Basin Adventure every year.

County commissioners learned in January they'll have to trim $25 million from their 2010-2011 fiscal year budget, which begins July 1.
