A man charged with the rape and murder of a Sparks teen was sentenced today to a life term for the sexual assault of a University of Nevada, Reno student that occurred just weeks before the Sparks killing.
Washoe District Judge Connie Steinheimer imposed the sentence on
Tamir Hamilton. He pleaded guilty to the charges in June.
DNA linked Hamilton to last August's assault that occurred at the 20-year-old woman's brother's Reno apartment. DNA evidence will also be used against him in a trial scheduled for March where he faces a capitol murder charge for the September rape and stabbing death of 16-year-old Holly Jean Quick.
