Gov. Jim Gibbons started a tour of all 17 Nevada counties on Monday, accompanied by some cabinet members and local elected officials.
"I look forward to meeting with Nevadans where they work and live throughout the state to discuss the many important issues we addressed this year to improve quality of life for all Nevadans,"
Gibbons said in advance of the start of the tour.
Monday's schedule included stops in Minden, Yerington, Hawthorne
and Tonopah. That was to be followed Tuesday by stops in Esmeralda
County, Round Mountain, Eureka and Ely.
On Wednesday, Gibbons planned to tour the maximum-security Ely
State Prison, and then move on to Elko and Winnemucca. Thursday's
schedule includes visits to Lovelock, Fallon and Fernley. Friday's only scheduled stop is in Virginia City.
Gibbons said a swing through southern Nevada is planned for the fall.
