RENO, NV - A California woman was arrested Monday morning after leading both the California and Nevada Highway Patrols on a chase that exceeded 100mph.
NHP was able to end the chase when the driver ran over a spike strip, blowing three of her four tires. The trap was laid on I-80 near the west McCarran interchange.
Susanne Marie Meyer, 59, of Paradise, CA was arrested for eluding a police officer (a felony) and speeding 95+ in a 65mph zone. The CHP also plans to charge her with other violations.
The incident started when Ms. Meyer failed to pull over for speeding (108 in a 65mph zone) and stealing gas from a gas station. She continued speeding west along I-80 trying to get away from CHP troopers.
Ms. Meyer was also pulled over for speeding much earlier in the day in the Nevada City/Auburn area.
She had also been stopped much earlier this morning and cited by CHP for speeding near the Auburn/Nevada City area.
