CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller is questioning dozens of state contracts with firms that have not registered with his office.
Miller raised the issue during Tuesday's meeting of the state Board of Examiners. Gov. Jim Gibbons and Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto also serve on the board that approves state contracts.
Sixty-three agreements were on Tuesday's agenda. Miller says a quick review found about one-third of companies seeking contracts did not have a state business license or other necessary corporate registrations.
The contracts were approved with a condition that firms in question provide proof of good standing within 30 days or the approval will be rescinded.
