Forecasters say western Nevada could be drenched today by heavy rain associated with thunderstorms.
A flash flood watch goes into effect this afternoon from Lake Tahoe to Reno, Carson City and other parts of western Nevada and eastern California. Of particular concern are areas scorched by recent wildfires.
Monsoonal moisture, an unstable atmosphere and high temperatures
are expected to combine to produce thunderstorms beginning at noon
today and continuing through the evening.
With the amount of moisture possible, the thunderstorms could produce a very heavy amount of rain.
Officials will be on the watch for flash flooding problems at the scene of south Lake Tahoe's Angora Fire and at Reno's Hawken Fire.
