News Anchor Passes Away At 62

Long-time bay area news anchor Pete Wilson has passed away at the age of 62.

KGO TV says he died last night of a massive heart attack during a hip replacement surgery at stanford university hospital.

Pete Wilson anchored the san francisco ABC affiliate's 6 p-m broadcast.

He was also well-known as the host of KGO's radio's afternoon call-in show.

The Vietnam veteran's decorated broadcasting career spanned more than 30 years.

He won several emmys and two peabody awards including one for his coverage of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
