NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - A federal inmate who was released by mistake from the North Las Vegas jail is back in custody this morning.
U.S. marshals say 36-year-old Jesse Lee Earhart turned himself in at the U.S. District Courthouse in Las Vegas about 2:30 AM.
He told authorities he was surrendering because of media attention about his release -- and because of police efforts to hunt him down.
Earhart is due in federal court today (Friday) on a weapons-related probation violation.
He was being held in federal custody when he was let out of the
North Las Vegas jail early Tuesday.
Officials are still investigating how that happened.
