PLACERVILLE, Calif. (AP) - A judge says the Northern California
couple charged with kidnapping Jaycee Dugard and holding her
captive for 18 years must be given the opportunity to speak to each
other while in jail.

Phillip and Nancy Garrido have been held separately since their
arrests in August and denied access to each other. Their lawyers
argued they had a constitutional right to talk face-to-face.

Jail officials had said arranging such visits would overburden
the staff.

The judge ordered jail officials to allow Nancy Garrido to place
two five minute phone calls to her husband over the next several
weeks.

The judge scheduled another court hearing for April 15.

Both Phillip and Nancy Garrido have pleaded not guilty.

Let's see...recorded lines, authorities would like more information... Why not let them talk? This could be a way for authorities to gather more information on other cases that are lacking information to have some some resolve. Perhaps this will lead to some peace of mind for other families other than the Dugards. Let's hope that this will help everyone involved come to grips with this hororific ordeal and find some peace and get on with their lives.
