Troopers from the Department of Public Safety, Nevada Highway Patrol are still investigating a fatality car crash that claimed the lives of a driver and three occupants, at approximately 2:52 pm Saturday.
The traffic crash occurred on US 395, just south of US395 Mile Marker Douglas 08.
For reasons unknown, the driver of a Green 2002 Suzuki utility vehicle, that was traveling southbound on US 395, allowed her vehicle to exit the right roadway edge, striking a road marker. The vehicle then re enter the southbound lane and continued across the travel lane, then entered the northbound travel lane striking a Green 1998 Dodge Pick Up Truck head-on, causing the truck to roll.
All four occupants of the Dodge Pick Up Truck were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Green Suzuki was transported to Renown Hospital, where she is listed in serious but stable condition. The driver is identified as Dawn Katherine Miley, 42 years of age from Gardnerville, Nevada. Troopers are investigating the possibility of alcohol and or the medical condition of Miley prior to the crash.
The name of the driver of the Dodge Pick Up Truck and the three passengers are being withheld, pending notification of the next of kin.
The Green Suzuki was reported to Douglas County Sheriff’s department as a reckless driver prior to the traffic crash at approximately 2:50 p.m.
Troopers, California Highway Patrol Officers, Douglas County Sheriff’s Department personnel and NDOT personnel closed northbound lane of the highway for over four hours to diagram and investigate the area of the crash site. Traffic was diverted around the scene, into the southbound travel lane.
