3 Die In Separate Accidents In Northern Nevada

A 57-year-old man died early Saturday morning, hours after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a Reno intersection.

Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the
accident that occurred late last night at the intersection of Kietzke Lane and Prosperity Street.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Names of both the victim and the vehicle driver were not immediately released.

In Elko County, two Overton residents were killed in a single-vehicle rollover yesterday morning on U-S Highway 93.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says 54-year-old Dennis Westwood was
northbound when his vehicle went off the roadway and overturned. He
and his 49-year-old wife, Trudy, were killed.

The couple's sons, 9-year-old Alex and 5-year-old Bryton, were released after treatment of injuries at a hospital. Two other children were injured in the accident.

Troopers say Dennis Westwood may have fallen asleep at the wheel, and no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
