Dedicated To The Community

Those who make a difference in their community often go unrcognized. ABC's hit show, "Extreme Home Makeover" is working to change that, rewarding people in all 50 states for those little things that they do to improve peoples lives.

Kim Riggs was the Grand Prize Winner from Nevada and is a resident of Carson City.

Patricia Rigg, Kim's mother said, "She would go around and find single mothers that were living down at the river with their children, living in pretty poor conditions. She would get their children in school and then try to help the parent get a job or get them on their feet."

One person in each state was chosen based on nomination letters sent in. The competition was tough. The Carson City resident, was picked from over a hundred applicants in Nevavda alone.

Kim Riggs said, "It's really neat to be compared to 50 other people that are outstanding, so I feel really privileged to be in that group".

Kim Riggs is the Grand Prize Winner and on Friday was presented with a brand new 2007 Ford Edge SUV. It is something Kim Rigg's says she has seen on TV but never thought would happen to her.

Kim said, "I really didn t believe it. I was shocked and it is still kinda surreal. It is just amazing!"

Tim Milligan, General Manager of Capital Ford commented, "Kim is a spokesperson for advocates for homeless children she has been involved with that for a very long time. She is a really deserving person and i'm glad she got this car".
