Air quality in the Reno area is bordering on being unhealthy due to all the smoke from area wildfires.
The Washoe District Health Department reports today that air quality is close to reaching the official federal standard used to declare it unhealthy.
District spokeswoman Susie Kapahee says that right now, it registers a high-to-moderate level of particulate matter.
As a result, health officials contacted the Washoe County School District and requested that all students in summer or year-round school be kept indoors if possible.
The health department also recommends people with respiratory conditions stay indoors and keep windows closed and use air conditioning, or go to places with air conditioning if they dont have it available.
