RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada State Fair held annually in Reno is getting a new name.

Organizers announced Monday that the fair will now be called the Nevada Territory Wild West Fair.

Plans for the fair include highlighting life in Nevada as it was when it was a territory. The fairgrounds will include a mining camp and agricultural, living history and frontier living displays.

There will still be a carnival and rides, and the renamed fair will also include Wild West shows and displays of Nevada military history.

I think it is a great name. For someone like myself, who enjoys the local history, it's about time that you involved where this state came from, and it's rich history. I moved here from Auburn CA, and were called our fair, The Gold Country Fair. They always include parts of the past. I have lived here now for about 20 yrs., and I really enjoy the history here. Teach the children. They need to learn outside the classroom

Don't most state fairs advertize and promote their fair with the state's name preceding it??? (i.e. Calif State Fair, Okla. State Fair, etc.).

The problem is we live in a cheap state. We are only one of two states that the state is not financed thru tax dollars. And everyone wonders way it is so bad. makes you not proud of your state but ashamed about how cheap we are.
