The Aria School of Music just opened its doors in December, and in that time has nearly doubled in size. It started with just 6 teachers, 2 artists, and 60 students. The growing numbers now show the school is becoming a special place in the community.
John Ponzo is an instructor and co-owner of the Aria School. He says what makes it so special is students get something at the Aria School that they can't get anywhere else. "A nice education in music. I think music is so important, not just for the love of music, but it helps you in many areas of your life."
The Aria School of Music and Art is not affiliated with any retail music stores, so teachers are able to focus on education without feeling obligated to push sales. The school is dedicated to giving back to the community. They've teamed up with a foundation that collects instruments for children, and a local doctor who pays for private lessons for those who can't afford them.
Julie Holloman is also an instructor and co-owner at the Aria School. She says many members of the staff donate their time to teach, or perform to raise money. "One of the nice things about our school is every teacher here is really passionate about what they do and very good at what they do, so we all bring our backgrounds and love of music and share that with our students."
The Aria School teaches students of all ages and offers a variety of music lessons. The teachers are planning a fundraiser in June to help raise money for scholarships to give to students who otherwise couldn't afford music lessons.
