The Tungsten Fire is burning near the Rye Patch Reservoir, 3 miles west of Imlay and 30 miles Southwest of Winnemucca. This blaze has scorched 50,000 acres, and one outbuilding at a mine has been confirmed destroyed.
I-80 and train traffic on the Union Pacific mail line have been periodically closed in the vicinity of Imlay.
This fire was sparked by lightning Friday evening; by Sunday, it is reported at 30% contained.
Because fire crews face difficult terrain and extremely flammable brush, there is no full containment date yet.
