Fire officials at the fire burning near Lake Tahoe are massing their forces as they prepare for strong winds this afternoon.
The incident commander at the scene says fire commanders are most concerned about the southwest portion of the fire and its northwest flank.
The southwest area, near Meyers, is where the wildfire started. The northwest section of the fire is near the densely populated neighborhoods in the city of South Lake Tahoe.
The National Weather Service has issued a red-flag warning for the area for this afternoon. Forecasters are predicting wind gusts up to 35 miles-per-hour and dry humidity.
Fire commanders say they'll be deploying fire engines throughout the neighborhoods of South Lake Tahoe to try to put out fires if they start breaking out in yards and on roofs.
