Wildfire Volunteer Efforts

A fund has been set up to assist those affected by the Angora fire still burning near South Lake Tahoe. The ANGORA FIRE FUND account is held at the U.S. Bank located at 2850 Lake Tahoe Blvd., however, funds can be deposited at any U.S. Bank location.

Career College of Northern Nevada is holding an all-day fire victim relief fund-raiser at the Grand Sierra Resort parking lot Friday from 8 a.m. To 6 p.m. They are asking for gatorade, bottle water and other energy drinks only and any cash donations 100 percent of which will go to fire victims. You will be able to make donations at "Star Spangled Sparks" from 4pm to 10pm on July 4th. John Ascuaga's Nugget has partnered with the United Way of Northern Nevada.

You can drop off donations for Angora fire victims at the Coors Light Boneyard blast Softball Tournament this weekend. The event begins Friday at 5:00 p.m. At Don Mello Park in Sparks and runs through Sunday.

Debra Manley, the facilitator for "Stuff Ministries" in Gardnerville, has enough on hand to help three families that lost their homes stocke their kitchens and bathrooms with supplies.

The American Red Cross has set up a shelter for evacuees at Carson City High School. They also have opened another shelter at the Incline High School. Call 775-856-1000 x119 for more information.

Sierra Place Retirement is offering free accommodations to senior citizens affected by the Angora Fire.
