Officer-Involved Shooting on Kietzke Lane, Suspect Arrested

On Saturday night just before 10:30, Reno Police officers responded to a call of a possible domestic dispute with shots fired from the Woodside Village Apartments on 4800 Kietzke Lane behind the Olive Garden.

Prior to the officers' arrival, a witness says he saw black Ford F150 pickup speeding away. The caller also says he believed, the occupants of the truck were gang members.

Officers on-scene say they heard gun shots coming from the area and approached to investigate. One officer encountered a man who was armed with a handgun.

The subject ultimately fired at the officer, and the officer fired back; the suspect ran away, and was later found in one of the apartments in the complex, interviewed and arrested. Nobody was hit by the gunfire.

Officers from the Regional Gang Unit located the F150 Ford, and the four suspects late Saturday night.

During their investigation detectives from the Regional Gang Unit and the Reno Police Robbery/Homicide Unit learned that several known gang members went to the Woodside Village Apartments and began throwing rocks into Apartment #52. The adult male occupant fired several times from a small caliber handgun as the suspects fled the scene, striking the suspect vehicle. The subject continued to fire the weapon as officers arrived on scene.

22-year-old Jiminez Gerado of Reno was arrested on two charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a Peace Officer, obstructing and resisting an Officer with a deadly weapon, and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
