TRUCKEE, CA (AP) - A teacher at a Lake Tahoe-area private school is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on charges that she engaged in a sexual relationship with a male student.
28-year-old Christine Johnson was booked May 13th at the Nevada County Jail in Truckee on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
She was a history teacher at Squaw Valley Academy, a private boarding school with nearly 100 middle and high school students, located in Olympic Valley just north of Lake Tahoe.
Johnson had been scheduled to be arraigned this past Tuesday, but did not show up. Her lawyer told Superior Court Commissioner Trilla Bahrke that Johnson was out of town. Bahrke continued the arraignment to Tuesday.
Academy officials say Johnson hasn't worked there since last semester, which ended in May.
