Plans to build a multi-million dollar triple a baseball stadium are still in play for Washoe County, but it whether it will be built as part of the Legends of Sparks Marina is now up in the air.
Sparks city officials and the Kansas City-based developer building legends announced monday that negotiations with owners of an undisclosed baseball organization have reached an impasse.
Dave Claflin of RED Development, LLC said the impasse does not mean that it's plans for a centerpiece sports complex for the Legends project is dead. The developer say it plans to keep a sports complex as part of the overall project.
As for the sticking point, city officials and the developer would only say that the impasse mostly involves long term financial issues. Five other locations for a stadium in Washoe County have also been identified, but not disclosed.
