The Bureau of Land Management wants to know who shot six wild horses to death.

The carcasses were found Saturday in northern Washoe County, along the Nevada-California border about 45 miles northeast of Susanville.

Investigators say the animals had been dead about two weeks.

If you can help the BLM with the investigation, call the office in Cedarville, California, at area code 530-279-6101.

The shooter could face a year in prison or a two-thousand-dollar fine or both.

I think they should take the wild horses off of the range just as soon as they take all the free loading ranchers off the range, a dollar and 50 cents for cow and calf. what a joke, that program cost the goverment millions a year. Horses can't be left on the range with out something keeping their numbers in check, wolfs , mountain lions, bob cats. Oh but the free loading ranchers don't like that, oh but we can get rid of them and look how better things looks, don't have to spend millions on rancher welfare and cut the cost of wild horses. win win

No one should kill animals illegally. However, the so called wild horse population is getting out of hand. The solution is to allow hunters to kill them take care of the meet (process it) and donate it to the poor. Horse meet is eaten all around the world. People complain about starving children, feed them with this plentiful resource.
