Former Member of the KOLO-8 Team Dies

Tony Shelton passed away on June 3, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Tony was born December 19, 1956 to William (Bill) H. Shelton and Ruth Helen Tarkington in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tony graduated from McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas in 1974. He received degrees from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas and Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Tony married Cary Ann Randle on June 2, 1984 in Sherwood, Arkansas.

Tony was a television meteorologist. He worked at KOAM-TV in Pittsburgh, Kansas, WRCB-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee and KOTV-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In September 1987, Tony accepted the position of Chief Meteorologist for KOLO-TV in Reno, Nevada. Tony left KOLO to develop real-time weather information systems on the internet. After receiving a patent for the technology, he became the Chief Meteorologist for KRNV-TV where he worked until becoming ill.

Tony is survived by his father Bill Shelton and mother Ruth Shelton, wife, Cary Randle, his daughter, Jaime, 16, son Andrew, 4, brothers Paul (wife Sherrie) and John (wife Dede) and three nephews and two nieces.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 8, at the North Virginia Street Church of Christ at 6840 North Virginia Street. Internment will be at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in Sherwood, Arkansas.
