Reno Fire Crews got an early start Saturday morning, well before the afternoon thunder clouds rolled into the Truckee Meadows.
A small brushfire was spotted on the hill near the Evans Canyon Power Substation. The flames were noticed right beside the large white “N” painted on the hillside.
Crews caught and dominated the blaze while it was still small; capturing it at just three acres.
The cause of the fire hasn’t yet been determined, but crews believe it may have been a sleeper fire that was sparked by lightning on Friday afternoon that ignited suddenly after 10 o’clock Saturday morning.
