A student-run event at Caughlin Ranch Elementary School today will make life better for some forgotten pets.

They hosted a rummage sale, where shoppers and the Humane Society came out winners.

About 25 kids and their parents have been doing community service projects throughout the school year, and this is just one of the ways they are giving back to the community.

In addition to the rummage sale fund raiser, the volunteers have held a Truckee River cleanup, made cards for troops overseas and walked and groomed dogs and cats at the Nevada Humane Society.
