Lightning is being blamed for sparking nearly a dozen fires near Bordertown Wednesday night.
The series of fires, called the "Peterson Complex”, started around 6:20 pm, as a thunder-cell passed the cold-springs area. The flames charred brush & cheat grass on both sides of Highway 395, near the California-Nevada state line.
About 2-dozen hand crews and two air-tankers managed to knock down all the fires, in a matter of hours.
