Placer County deputies say their investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found in Tahoe Vista last week is turning into a murder probe.
Sheriff's Lieutenant John Savage says the case is being treated as a homicide because the victim appears to have suffered blunt force trauma by an unknown source.
Placer County Sheriff's detectives responded to a call a week ago from a resident who discovered the body behind a tree in a field near National Avenue and Highway 28.
Preliminary tests estimate that the woman died within two weeks of when her body was discovered and she probably was killed somewhere else.
The autopsy performed Tuesday revealed the woman was between five-foot-ten and six-feet tall and had dark, shoulder-length hair. She was wearing blue jeans and gold hoop earrings.
