Officials at Lake Tahoe are concerned about the threat of an invasive aquatic species in the area.
Tahoe Regional Planning Agency has declared a state of emergency to expedite planning and funding for the war against the Quagga Mussle.
The Quagga Mussles were discovered in Lake Mead near Las Vegas in January. Now officials are worried that they'll make it to Lake Tahoe - transferred by boats or birds.
They say if the mussles do reach the alpine lake, it could disrupt a delicate food chain, clog water pipes, and even damage boats and docks.
