STATELINE, Nev. (AP) - Rick Rhoden, barred from last year's celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe, will try to extend his six-time winning record in July at N-B-C's American Century Championship.
Last year, Rhoden was ruled ineligible to compete in the 54-hole event at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course after he earned a provisional card to play on the P-G-A's Champions Tour.
But he finished 76th on the 2006 money list, missing the qualifying mark for this year's tour by one spot. Now, the former major league pitcher says he's looking forward to trying to reclaim his title at Tahoe and playing against his celebrity buddies.
He's among the 78-player field who will contend for $600,000 in prize money at the 18th annual championship July 13th through 15th in tateline.
