Reno Council Approves $500 Million Annual Budget

The Reno City Council has approved a 500 million dollar budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1st.

Included in the spending plan is funding for 15 new firefighters to staff the new Somerset Fire Station, five new police officers and one new police sergeant.

The budget also sets aside 15 million dollars for street projects, more than 9 million dollars for large parks projects and nearly 100 million dollars for sewer infrastructure.

Two hundred thousand dollars was earmarked for improvements to
the Moana Pool and 100,000 dollars for bank erosion and stabilization at Virginia Lake.
