Former Gov. Guinn Elected to MGM Mirage Board

Former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn was elected to the board of directors of casino giant MGM Mirage at the annual shareholders meeting today.

Chief executive Terri Lanni says the addition of Guinn, who served as governor from 1999 to 2006, was good for the company's future.

Lanni says Guinn's experience in the public and private sector would be a "tremendous asset."

Guinn served as president of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 1994 to 1995, was chairman of the board of Southwest Gas Company from 1993 to 1997 and was chief executive there from 1988
to 1993.

He was also chairman PriMerit Bank from 1987 to 1988, vice president of Nevada Savings and Loan from 1978 to 1987 and was superintendent of the Clark County School District from 1968 to 1978.

Guinn also serves on the board of the Service 1st Bank of Nevada, a recently formed banking corporation.
