Winter Storm Advisory Posted for Reno, Sierra
Holiday travelers over the Sierra could run into some slushy driving conditions.

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Holiday travelers over the Sierra could run into some slushy driving conditions.
The National Weather Service has posted a winter weather advisory for the Lake Tahoe region beginning at noon Friday and running through midnight.
Forecasters say up to 3 inches is possible above 7,000 feet Friday, with another 7 inches possible overnight at the higher elevations. The storm will be accompanied by blustery wind gusting to 80 mph over the ridgetops.
In the Reno-Carson City area, a winter weather advisory has been posted from 4 p.m. until 4 a.m. Saturday.
The weather service says precipitation will start out as rain on the valley floors but change to snow overnight, with anywhere from 1 to 5 inches possible, depending on location.
